Statement of Faith

God

We believe in the one true God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinite in love, perfect in judgment and unchanging in mercy. God exists eternally in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  (Exo. 3:14-15; 20:1-7; Deu. 6:4; Psa. 36:5-9; 90:4; Isa. 40:28; Mat. 28:19; Eph. 1:11; Act. 15:14; Joh. 17:6, 18; Eph. 4:12; 1 Cor. 5:10; Rom. 12:2; II Cor. 4:7; Jam. 1:17; cf. Dan. 2:22)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary in fulfillment of prophecy and is God the Father’s incarnate Son.  Jesus died for the sins of the world, taking on Himself, on behalf of sinful persons, the shame, alienation and judgment of sin.  He physically rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for His followers.  We believe in the deity of Christ, His sinlessness, His miracles, and His personal and imminent return.  (Gal. 1:6-9; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Tim. 2:5-6; Act. 4:12; Joh. 3:16-19; 2 Pet. 3:9; II The. 1:7-9; Joh. 4:42; Mat. 11:28; Eph. 1:20-21; Phi. 2:9-11)

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God present and active in the world.  The Spirit draws all people to Christ, indwells believers, provides assurance of salvation, and empowers us to live godly lives through which the gospel is proclaimed and the kingdom of God is manifested in the world.  (I Cor. 2:4; Joh. 15:26-27; 16:8-11; I Cor. 12:3; Joh. 3:6-8; II Cor. 3:18; Joh. 7:37-39; I Thes. 5:19; Act. 1:8; Psa. 85:4-7; 67:1-3; Gal. 5:22,23; I Cor. 12:4-31; Rom. 12:3-8)

The Bible

We believe in the divine inspiration, truthfulness and authority of both the Old and New Testaments, the only written Word of God, without error in all it affirms.  The Scriptures are the only infallible rule of faith and practice.  The Holy Spirit preserves God’s Word in the church today and by it speaks God’s truth to peoples of every age and in every culture.  (II Tim.. 3:16; II Pet.. 1:21; John 10:35; Isa.. 55:11; I Cor.. 1:21; Rom.. 1:16, Mat.. 5:17-18; Jude 3; Eph.. 1:17-18; 3:10-18)

Humankind

We believe in the value and dignity of all human beings, people created in God’s image to live in love and holiness, but alienated from God and each other because of sin and guilt.  Humankind justly deserves the judgment of alienation from Holy God, but He invites all to respond to His love and to accept His saving grace.
(Gen. 1:27; 3:1-24; Psa. 8:3-8; 16:2; 51:3-6; 139:13-15; Isa. 59:2; Rom. 3:23-25)

Justification

We believe that God justifies and regenerates all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.  Believers become children of God and begin to live in holiness through the sanctifying work of the Spirit.  (Deu.. 30:6; Psa. 51:10-17; 103:8-13; 130:8; Eze. 36:25, 29; Mat. 5:48; 22:37; Luk. 1:69; Joh. 17:20-23; Rom. 1:17; 3:25-26; 4:20, 22; 5:1-10; 8:3-4; 10:3-9; II Cor. 5:21; 7:1; Gal. 2:16; Eph. 3:14; 5:25-27; Phi. 3:8-11; I Thes. 5:23; Tit. 2:11-14; I John.3:8; 4:17)

The Church

We believe that the Church is composed of all who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Local expressions of the Church vary greatly, but all healthy communities are characterized by a passion for worshipping Christ and manifesting His love to broken and lost people.  (Psa. 133:1; John 17:18; 20:21; Mat. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; 20:27; Eph. 1:9-10; 3:9-11; Gal. 6:14,17; II Cor. 6:3-4; II Tim. 2:19-21; Phi. 1:27, I Pet. 2:9-10)

The Return of Christ and God’s Ultimate Victory

We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ and in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost.  Those who have saving faith will experience the resurrection unto eternal life with Christ and the saints in glory, and those who have refused saving faith will experience the resurrection unto eternal judgment and separation from God.  We believe in God’s ultimate victory over Satan and all evil and the establishment of His perfect kingdom in a new heaven and a new earth.  (Mark 14:62; Heb. 9:28; Mark 13:10; Acts 1:8-11; Matt. 28:20; Mark 13:21-23; John 2:18; 4:1-3; Luke 12:32; Rev. 21:1-5; 2 Pet. 3:13; Matt. 28:18)
